Last month I reviewed the Barbie Photo Fashion fun doll that’s been a big hit in our house with my 9-year-old and her sisters. The girls love taking pictures of anything and everything (although mostly of each other and our dog, who’s always content to pose for them, lol) and seeing how creative they can get with editing the photos on the doll to display as an ever-changing graphic t-shirt.
Lately the girls have discovered an additional way to get even more creative with their pics – by visiting the Barbie Photo Fashion Doll website, you can download the free software that lets you edit your photos on your computer – and gives you over a hundred additional effects to use. You can view your finished photos on a virtual Barbie plus they sync right onto your actual doll to be viewed on her t-shirt display screen as well. You can also create a ‘lookbook’ of your designs that you can print.
The software is easy for kids to navigate with simple drag-and-drop options, colorful graphics and fun sound and visual effects. You can easily choose a photo to edit, resize and rotate it, then add whatever effects you want.
My girls have had a lot of fun taking pictures this fall – their Jack O’Lanterns were a popular target both for photo-taking and editing. Hannah wanted to take the Photo Fashion doll trick-or-treating with us, but I vetoed that since the day was spitting rain and I didn’t want the doll to get wet.
I think my favorite thing about the Barbie Photo Fashion Doll is that it allows Hannah to not only express her creativity, but to tell her own stories. The doll is easy to carry around where she goes and I love seeing what catches her eye to take a picture of – whether it’s Halloween pumpkins, 40 shots of the dog, or a dozen of her favorite stuffed animals. Or her sisters in silly poses…
I can’t wait to find out what she’ll take pictures of next!
