Review and Giveaway: Tiny Prints

September 13, 2008 by Deb
Filed under Giveaways, Special Deal, holiday-related product

Every year around Thanksgiving time, I drag my husband and three daughters to any one of a number of local photo studios to get holiday pictures taken. The process itself is usually stressful, but somehow we always seem to manage to end up with photos that I love, whether we’re doing a family portrait that year, or just individual pictures of the kids.

My practice in years past has always been the same. My husband would make copies of the girls’ portraits at work (he’s a former graphic designer), and I would assemble the holiday card ‘packet’ which included said photo copies, an annual holiday letter, and usually a (cheap but attractive) generic holiday card, which I spent countless minutes individually signing.

Putting those cards in the mail every year was always a massive relief.  :)

This year will be different.  For one thing, my youngest daughter (age 2) has steadfastly refused to even set foot in a photo studio, so we’ll likely be using more candid photos, taken at home. Also, my husband no longer works in graphic design – which means that perks like free professional-quality color copies are gone. But, this year, I plan to do things differently – and to take as much of the stress out of the holiday card process as possible. After all, there are enough other things to stress over when it comes to the holiday season.  :)

I recently received some samples of personalized holiday cards and invitations from Tiny Prints – and have found my solution to holiday card chaos.

What they are:

Tiny Prints is a company that specializes in providing the best quality social stationary in unique, fun, and modern designs.  As their website states, “Tiny Prints was created by three friends who share a love of babies and an appreciation for giving and receiving good paper“. They offer personalized cards, announcements, invitations, stationary and associated accessories for all kinds of events, holidays and stages of life. Whether a flat postcard style or a more traditional folded card, they have a design and style to meet your needs.

For the 2008 holiday season they have both personal greeting cards and business holiday cards available,  and were kind enough to send me several samples to take a look at.

Here’s my take on them:

I love the idea of including all parts of the ‘packet’ together – photo, card and message, all together in one gorgeous layout. And the process is easy at Tiny Prints’ website – simply choose your card style, upload your photo(s), create your text message(s) and you’re done. No signing of individual cards, stuffing letters and photos into every envelope – or sending flimsy store-bought cards. I was extremely impressed by the quality of the samples I received – both of the card stock itself and of the printing of photos and text. Unlike inkjet printing, the colors won’t run or smudge if they happen to get wet – or fade within weeks of printing. Both the glossy and matte finishes provide a clear, professional look so that every detail of the photo(s) can be enjoyed.

I had never even thought of the idea to use my own childrens’ artwork instead of (or in addition to) a traditional photo on our cards, but I absolutely love the idea! What an amazing way to show off your child’s drawing skills as well as how cute he/she looks in this year’s holiday outfit.  :)

I took a look around at the 2008 holiday designs available for preview right now on the site, and found the absolute perfect style for our cards this year:

I can’t wait to fill those three squares with photos of my own girls!

The bottom line:

Tiny Prints offers an easy way to create unique, personalized, professional cards, invitations and other products to meet any of your social stationary needs. And with over 800 new designs launching this fall for the 2008 holiday season, it’s simple to customize your personal or business holiday cards.

Where can you find them?:

You can browse through all of the different design styles available for any occasion at http://www.tinyprints.com/. Prices vary according to the design and type of card – but here’s a special deal for you! Use Tiny Prints coupon code TPBR136508 to receive 10% off your next order of stationery, invitations or photo cards (valid through 12/31/2008).

Would you like to try them?:

It’s a “Show and Share” New Holiday Card Design Contest, and you could win a $50 Gift Certificate from Tiny Prints!   All you have to do is show your holiday spirit and share your favorite new card design for 2008.  Here are the details:

  1. As a leader in holiday photo cards, Tiny Prints is so excited about the upcoming 2008 holiday card line that they couldn’t wait to offering a sneak peek to showcase the all-new card designs.  Enter their contest to help determine what cards will be most popular this coming holiday.  During this early preview period, the new holiday cards, photo cards, Christmas cards and holiday invitations are not yet available for purchase; however, for a very limited time you can receive amazing early-bird savings on their soon-to-be retired photo cards, Christmas cards and holiday invitations.
  2. To help them celebrate the launch, they’re looking for contestants to review any of their very newest 2008 Christmas cards, holiday photo cards, and business holiday cards for those who work in or own companies.  Simply go to Tiny Prints (www.tinyprints.com), browse your favorite 2008 holiday card designs currently being previewed and save your favorite 2008 design in your account by clicking the “save in favorites” button. Then come back here to my blog and provide a link to the specific holiday card (see link for example) in the comments below indicating what you liked best about it.  Please note that some designs are so new that they cannot yet be customized, but will be soon (early October and hundreds more designs will also be available then as well).
  3. The contest will run through 11:59 pm EST on Tuesday, September 30th.  One winner will then be drawn at random from people who have properly followed the above directions and placed comments in this blog post.  Please create your comment using the same e-mail address you used when creating an account on Tiny Prints so participation can be verified.

Good luck! :)

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED – the random number generator has chosen comment #16 as the winner:

Congratulations to Janet (no blog) who said, “I saved Holiday Toile (http://www.tinyprints.com/products/ProductView_2299.htm). I love the colors and the design.“! I will be sending you an e-mail shortly to work out the details.

I know you showed this one above, but it really is my favorite! We’re expecting our 3rd baby in a few weeks, and it would be perfect to show our 3 children. (Although sometimes the house isn’t too “peaceful” here!!)
    Thanks.
