Review and Giveaway: Caress Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash and Beauty Bar (CLOSED)

Ok, I’ll admit it – I tend to be a bit boring when it comes to personal beauty products. I don’t wear makeup on a regular basis, I don’t wear perfume at all, and I even try to avoid any kind of scented soap or body wash at all times. In my defense there, I’ve had issues in the past with allergic reactions to some soaps and washes (and especially deodorants), so I just go for the ‘safe’ route of sticking with dye and perfume-free products. Like I said, boring… My husband recently made the wistful remark that I don’t seem to ever really ‘smell nice’. Not that I smell badly, by any means (and yes, I knew what he meant), but since even my laundry is washed in dye-free detergent, there’s no nice smell that he can associate with me. So it got me thinking, and when I recently had the opportunity to try out a couple of beauty products from Caress, I decided to go ahead and give them a try. And I’m very glad that I did.
What they are:
Caress offers a varied collection of body washes and beauty bars in options such as ‘Glowing Touch’, ‘Cashmere Luxury’ and ‘Daily Silk’ – names that all bring to mind luxurious and spa-like experiences. The ‘Evenly Gorgeous’ products are supposed to help gently exfoliate and moisturize your skin for a soft, even skin tone, and the scent of burnt brown sugar and karite butter. There are two options – you can either use the Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash, or the Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Beauty Bar.
Courtesy of Caress and the Family Review Network, I received a sample of both the body wash and the beauty bars to try out and review.
Here’s my take on them:
I was slightly apprehensive to use these, given my previous issues with allergies, but it’s been so long now since I’ve tried anything new and different, that I was excited to see how well these would work. I started off with the body wash, since that’s what I normally use. I applied it to my bath sponge – it’s so strange after years of un-dyed products to see something like this that’s thick and coppery – it almost looks like melted caramel. It lathered up right away and the lather lasted through my whole shower – my own personal scale of how well I like a new soap or body wash. If I don’t have to re-apply to my sponge, all’s good. And this one definitely meets that criteria. The lather is very thick and I can tell that it’s moisturizing since I haven’t had any dry or itchy skin since using this. In the winter that’s often a problem, so I’ve been very happy with how the Caress works. And no allergy issues either – which makes me very, very happy.
I caught a cold right after I started using these, so for a good week I wasn’t able to smell anything, much less the scent of the body wash. In fact it wasn’t until this morning when I opened the bottle, that I immediately noticed the amazing scent and remembered how much I liked it to begin with. It’s not an overpowering smell, so even though I’m not used to using scented bath bath products, I don’t mind it at all. In fact, this morning my shower felt less like a chore and a bit more like a kind of spa-type experience. I’d never even really thought that scent would make that much of a difference – but it does. I’ve used the beauty bar a few times too – it also lathers up very well and has the same wonderful scent, but I find that I definitely prefer the body wash. However, my husband has actually been using the beauty bar and (he’d never admit this to anyone but me, shhh) really likes it. He didn’t use those exact words – it was something more to the order of, “hey you can keep buying that stuff if you want to. You know, if you want to keep using it, that is.” But he didn’t deny it when I asked him (although he told me he’d deny it if anyone else asked, lol). I think it’s because the scent isn’t flowery or perfume-ish. Maybe Caress should start a men’s line.
I can’t say that I’ve noticed any kind of difference in my skin tone – I’m so fair, freckled and splotchy though that I don’t know if anything could truly even things out. But I really don’t care – that’s not something that’s terribly important to me, so it’s not something I’m looking for in a skin cleansing product. As for the exfoliating – I can’t say for sure either. My skin is definitely soft, but whether that’s due to the exfoliating, the moisturizing or both, I have no idea. In any case, I like how the product works in general, and that’s the most important thing, I guess.
The bottom line:
Whether your prefer to use a liquid body wash or a solid beauty bar, the Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash or Beauty Bar from Caress have got you covered. They offer a more luxurious feel that many other skin cleansing products and the rich, but not overpowering scent adds to the feeling of being in a spa, rather than your own bathroom. If you are looking for something to gently cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize and hopefully even out your skin tone as well, these are a good choice.
