Giveaway: World Championship Games for the Nintendo DS

When I was a kid, one of my dad’s jobs was as an arcade game vendor – he was responsible for putting those big video game machines into restaurants and other locations, and then split the profits with each business owner. So we often would have video games (yep, the big consoles) in the house when he’d need to fix or store one for a while. One of my brother’s and my favorites for a while was a track and field game – where you could compete in six different events. My main memories of the game are that we used to just about wear our index fingers raw because you had to ‘run’ by repeatedly pressing a button very quickly.  :)

Video games have come a huge way since the 80’s, and Nintendo has some of the most popular ones out there. And their World Championship Games is the most realistic simulation of athletic events out there for handheld consoles.

What it is:

00196_pack_01_jpg World Championship Games, from the The Game Factory, allows you to, “create and customize your own athletes and compete with them in 14 different events at world famous arenas!”.

The game is for the Nintendo DS platform, and utilizes the stylus to let your athlete run, jump, throw, and otherwise compete in the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, 110m hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin, 1500m, rifle shooting, pistol shooting and archery. There are several different modes, including ‘practice’, ‘career’, ‘tournament’ and multiplayer functions that let you challenge your friends and play with up to 4 people.

When you break records and win medals, the game lets you unlock additional events, stadiums and other hidden items to make play even more fun and exciting.

Would you like to try it?:
