generic-banner-125x125_1 If you’ve been reading this site for a while then you’ll know that I’ve reviewed and given away cell phones from kajeet before. I think that they are the best option out there in order to give kids the safety and security (and privilege) of having a phone – but also to teach them responsibility for it and be able to monitor how they use it.

How exactly does kajeet stack up against simply adding an extra line to your existing family plan?  Here’s a breakdown:

kajeet-versus-family-plan

In essence, what kajeet offers is a service with no activation fees, no cancellation fees, and no monthly usage fees. You can either pay as you go, or monthly plans start at only $4.99. They have an option to fit every need and every budget. And they also provide free parental controls that let kids and parents sit down together to determine when, where, how often and for how long the phone can be used. And, you can also sign up for the GPS phone locator service as well (first month is free!) so you will always know where your child’s phone is at.

Right now (until March 19th), when you sign up for the service and activate your child’s phone, you can take advantage of their Night & Weekend minutes sale – night and weekend minutes are only $9.99 for 1,000 minutes, starting at 7:00 PM. And by either clicking on the kajeet links in this post or using the coupon code ‘3GIRLS’ you can save 15% when you purchase a phone! Kajeet phones are less expensive than ever, with refurbished phones selling for as little as $19.99 for a LG LX150 flip phone.

Here’s another bonus code, which will start your child off with $10 worth of bonus credit upon phone activation – use ‘Bonus10’ before February 28th to take advantage of this great deal.

So to sum up, here’s what you can get from kajeet right now:

  • A quality cell phone for as little as $19.99, with the basic options that kids (and parents) want and need. And they offer higher-end phones as well, with mp3 players and full QWERTY keyboards.
  • Save 15% directly off the price of the phone, just by using the coupon code ‘3GIRLS’.
  • Use the ‘bonus10’ code during phone activation before February 28th to receive $10 worth of bonus credits.
  • Sign up for a night and weekend plan before March 19th and receive 1,000 minutes for only $9.99.
  • And you get all of kajeet’s regular services like the GPS locator service (free for first month), free parental controls, and if you sign up for their basic $4.99 monthly plan, you’ll get 4,000 free text messages as well. 897159001237flat3

I previously tried the kajeet phone, now it is just a portable game player. But probably one of the best things was that you could see online what calls were made and received. Of course GPS is excellent too but it didn’t have that feature at the time.
