Review and Giveaway: Glade Sense & Spray

I’ve never really been a huge fan of air fresheners – I usually prefer to use scented candles (or at least I did before kids), or simply spray something if or when needed. I don’t really see the point in having something sitting there releasing a scent even when it’s not needed. So that’s why I was intrigued by Glade’s newest air freshener which only dispenses when someone’s around to actually benefit from it.

What it is:

offer_104 The new Glade® Sense & Spray air freshener has motion sensor technology that lets it release a spray of scent only when it detects motion in the room. After that, the air freshener enters a lock-down period for 30 minutes before it will spray again, even if there’s motion nearby. A ‘boost’ button lets you add a burst of fragrance whenever you think it’s needed, even during the 30-minute lock-down. When the unit is in ‘wait’ mode, you’ll see the light blink every 5 seconds. Once it sprays, the light stays on continuously for 30 minutes until it enters the wait mode again.

The base unit is available in both Clean Linen and Lilly of the Valley scents and you can purchase refills in those scents as well as Magnolia & Vanilla, Apple Cinnamon, Country Garden and Powder Fresh.

Here’s my take on it:

One thing that I liked about this air freshener right off is that it’s a self-standing unit. That way you don’t need to worry about placing it only where there’s an electrical outlet, but can put it wherever you can most benefit from the motion sensor. In our case, I chose the shelf above our kitchen sink as a good area to test it in. While there’s enough traffic through the kitchen to really get use out of the spray, it’s not the highest traffic area in the house. And let’s face it, the kitchen sink can at times need a burst of air freshener or two.  :)

I actually really don’t mind this air freshener at all. It’s a fresh, clean scent that’s not overwhelming or perfume-ish. And I like that it’s not a constant fragrance, but only emits at most, every half hour. I think the only thing that’s taken a bit of getting used to is hearing the poof of air when it bursts – it took a few days before I learned to recognize it as I’d walk by and now I hardly notice it at all. I’m not sure how long the refill is supposed to last, but we’ve been using it for over a week with no sign of running out.

The bottom line:

The Glade® Sense & Spray air freshener is a great option if you need long-term freshening in an area that gets intermittent traffic, or to preserve the scent in a high-traffic daytime area during the night. The motion sensor really allows the air freshener to work only when and where it needs to.

Where can you find it?:

Congratulations to Tammy Kennedy (no blog) who said, “I love my freshmatic but it sprays every 36 minutes that is the longest time allowed to be set at. My husband complains at 6.00 a can for refill that it should be set to spray longer time intervals. So this Glade spray And Sense would be perect for my bathroom, we would both be happy my husband less waste and cost, I’d be happy no stinking in my bathroom or over spraying from my kids with the oust can spray. Thank you.“!

I will be e-mailing you shortly to work out the details.

I would love to have this in my living room by the front door.
This way guest would be greeted by a fresh scent & not the cat box smell.
