Review: Your Couture Kid

With three girls, it’s inevitable that we are inundated with hair accessories of all kinds. I can barely keep track of all of the ponytail holders, headbands, barrettes, clippies and other assorted hair ‘stuff’ that we have. Most of them are your run-of-the-mill accessories that I buy to match any of the 4,302 pink outfits that we own. But lately I’ve started seeking out and finding some other great options for hair items that are much more unique and stylish. One of these is Your Couture Kid.
What it is:
Your Couture Kid is a mom-owned business. Not only does she make and sell her own designs for everything from hair accessories to custom footstools, but the site offers many other lines of trendy and stylish products as well.
We know that every tot is a Couture Kid, no matter what the budget. We want to help you make your child one of a kind.
The hair accessories here are different from what’s found on other sites – mainly because she doesn’t use bows. Instead, she uses a combination of ribbon, tulle, beads and paper flowers (she even makes some of those herself), thus creating a truly unique product, whether a headband or ponytail holder. There’s a wide variety of color combinations available, to fit with any wardrobe or outfit.
Courtesy of the Family Review Network, I received a ponytail holder to try out with my girls.
Here’s my our take on it:
The ponytail holder that we received to try out and review has orange and blue flowers – definitely not a common combination! In fact I wasn’t sure that the girls would have anything to match, until I realized that – why match? After all, the idea is to be unique.
The ponytail holder itself is a thick elastic band that stays extremely well in my daughters’ hair, whether my oldest who has thick, straight-ish hair or my 5-year-old, whose hair is fine and wavy. My youngest isn’t anywhere near ready for ponytail holders yet – I’m looking forward to being able to put this flower design in her hair eventually too, once she finally grows some that’s thick and long enough.
We love the flowers – such vivid colors and very different from the bows found on every other hair accessory that we have. It’s definitely fun for the girls as well – they have been fighting over who gets to wear it. I think I’m going to have to invest in at least one more to stave off the daily argument. Oh well, the things we have to do in order to keep peace…
The bottom line:
I would love to be able to do a variety of interesting and fun hairstyles with my girls, instead of the same ponytails every day. But – with awesome hair accessories like these, it really doesn’t matter. The ponytail holder is plenty unique enough and adds a great splash of color to any outfit.
Where can you find it?:
You can find Your Couture Kids hair accessories both at the main site (http://www.yourcouturekid.com/hairaccessories.html) and at her Etsy store as well. The ponytail holders and headbands sell for $9 each.
