More products for the cause… and a giveaway!
This week, I’ve been highlighting some of the companies and products out there that offer either ‘pink’ products for October or donate to or participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month on other ways. You can read the first two posts – about food-related companies/products and housekeeping-related companies/products, or enter either of my two pink-themed giveaways. There will be another giveaway today as well – check out the bottom of this post.
Today’s list of products and companies doesn’t fall so nicely into a single theme, so I’m just calling it ‘more’ products that support the cause and the fight against Breast Cancer – and help to raise awareness.
To begin with, I have another photo that I snapped at the grocery store recently – this was a prominently displayed end-cap at the front of the store:
On this display are pink-themed products – everything from kitchen utensils to snack containers, mops and tote bags. This is the only store (local grocery store) where I’ve seen pink ribbon products displayed so prominently.
Ok, so now on with our list. Here are some more products that help support the fight against Breast Cancer and the search for a cure:
3M, maker of Post-It® notes, among other products, has two separate campaigns that help to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). The ‘Stick Up For Breast Cancer’ one produces a new 3M Post-it® Pink Ribbon Super Sticky Note that has the pink ribbon displayed on every sheet. For every
package of these purchased, 3M will make a donation to the CBCF. Then, the ‘Post-it® Pink Ribbon Phone Directory Awareness Campaign’ produces a new Post-it® Flag Pen & Highlighter Pack – for every pack sold, 3M donates 50 cents to the CBCF.
If you’re in need of something to soothe chapped lips, consider purchasing a ChapStick® Susan G. Komen Pink Pack. For every Pink Ribbon Triple pack of ChapStick® Moisturizer sold, they will donate 30¢ to Susan G. Komen for the Cure – with a minimum guaranteed donation this year of $100,000 to help find the cure for breast cancer.- The totes»ISOTONER® brand offers several ‘pink’ products, including an umbrella, gloves, slippers, a scarf and a skull cap style hat as part of their Comfort for a Cure campaign. And, “Since the inception of the Comfort for A Cure program totes»ISOTONER along with our wonderful retail partners and patrons of both our on-line and outlet stores across the country we have donated over $400,000 dollars to both regional and national breast cancer organizations.”
- The photo storage and sharing site, Snapfish is selling Pink Gives! designs on customizable calendars, notebooks, notepads, cards, and stickers this month. When you order these products with Pink Gives! designs, 30% of the proceeds will go to BreastCancer.org, a non-profit dedicated to providing information and support to women and their families.
- Plus, every customer who purchases a photo calendar this October will receive 3 sets of self-exam reminder stickers – one set for themselves and two sets to give to women they love.
Coach will give a $100 donation to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation from the sale of every Lexington Breast Cancer Awareness Watch between September 15th and December 31st. Also, 20% of the proceeds of other ‘pink’ Coach products will also be donated.- All Wired Up sells a Rose Pearl Infinity Pendant, designed with Breast Cancer awareness in mind. It’s a beautiful way to either show your own support for the cause or to help support someone fighting or who’s survived Breast Cancer. A portion of all proceeds from the pendant go to the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
- The Estee Lauder Companies, Inc. supports The Breast Cancer Research Foundation with proceeds from selected products and their own donations. One such product is Origins’ Peace of Mind® Sensory Therapy. You can also enter their Share a Survival Story, Inspire the World contest.
- Munchkin’s Project Pink campaign is a program that raises money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and reminds moms, “don’t duck a breast exam”. By joining in on their ‘E-mail a duck Raise a buck’ e-mail campaign, you can create and dress up your computer-generated duck – make it sassy, chic, funky or frilly using the dozens of accessories available. Then email your new creation to a bunch of friends. For each person that opens your email, Munchkin will donate $0.05 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help in the fight against breast cancer. You can also purchase a limited edition pink rubber duck as a reminder to not “duck” your own monthly self-exams.Would you like to own a celebrity’s pink rubber duck? Many celebrities have hand decorated their own pink ducks and are auctioning them off to help raise money – check out the auction schedule!

- If you join TotalBeauty.com, you’ll receive a free breast self-examination guide, plus you’ll be entered for your chance to win hundreds of beauty prizes from Origins, Clinique, Prescriptives, Darphin and more. One lucky winner will receive a weekend spa getaway for three courtesy of Spas of America.
- Over at Wish List Worthy, there’s a list of many Breast Cancer awareness giveaways – check them out!
- Munchkin is giving away five gift baskets, with products worth $100 – filled with some of their most popular products like the Inflatable Safety Duck Tub, White Hot® Safety Spoons, and Baby On-the-Go Bag.
Remember that ‘pink’ display that I shared at the beginning of this post? Well, I picked up just a few items – a set for me, and a set for one of you! Here’s what you could win: one pink snack container, a pink Sharpie and a pink Sharpie highlighter, a ‘pink ribbon’ chip clip/magnet – and I’ll fill the container the rest of the way with some of the Dove chocolates that I mentioned in an earlier post. How sweet is that?
If you’d like to win this ‘pink’ set of products and chocolate, here are the rules:

Congratulations to Marlena U. (no blog) who said, “One of my best friend’s mother passed away from cancer. Her loss came early on in our friendship and I think it is one of the reasons why we knew that we were brought together to be friends for life. It’s now a cause that we support together and always will.“! I will be e-mailing you shortly to work out the details.

[...] Just a Mom’s Take On Things: Win Pink Products for Breast Cancer Ends: Oct 26 [...]
About 20 years ago, I was a HeadStart teacher and I had this wonderful, good-hearted assistant-Violet. She had 8 children of her own and a farmer for a husband. She was supplementing their income by working 30 hours a week in my classroom. She was great with kids and handled all her responsibilities with great skill and efficiency. Violet was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy. I knew I would have fallen apart with the diagnosis alone but Violet returned to work in just a couple monthe wearing a prostethis. She continued to fulfill her duties and be warm and loving to all children. I retired several years later but Violet continued to aide other teachers, right through the death of her husband to lung cancer. In fact, she continues to work at HeadStart part-time today.
She is my hero. She is so strong and brave yet gentle and loving. I only pray I could be as gracious as she has been.
Thanks to the medical community for their endeavors, my friend survived breast cancer and continues to be my friend all these years.

I am a breast cancer survivor (4 years!) and a I try to encourage everyone I know to get regular mammograms. If I hadn’t had my yearly mammograms, my cancer wouldn’t have been diagnosed so early! I love how everyone has pink products in October!
