Review and Giveaway: Build-A-Bear Hopeful Wishes Teddy® II

October 14, 2008 by Deb

It’s always beneficial to help support a charity or a cause – and when you can do so by purchasing something as cute as a teddy bear from Build-A-Bear Workshop, that’s even better.  :)

What it is:

hopefulwishesteddyII In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness month, Build-A-Bear Workshop is unveiling the Hopeful Wishes Teddy® II to support and advance breast cancer education, research and support groups.

With every Hopeful Wishes Teddy® II purchase, a $5 donation will be split among three national organizations that help support the health and wellness needs of women affected by breast cancer.

  • Susan G. Komen for the Cure® St. Louis Affiliate – The money raised will help fund education, screening, treatment and support programs, as well as research grants for women in St. Louis, Missouri, home of Build-A-Bear Workshop World Bearquarters.
  • Network of Strength (formerly Y-ME) – Breast Cancer Network of Strength, formerly known as Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization®, strives to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support that no one faces breast cancer alone. Through the YourShoes(TM) peer support center, trained breast cancer survivors provide immediate emotional relief and peer support through a toll-free hotline, e-mail and support groups.
  • Young Survival Coalition – The Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier international, nonprofit network of breast cancer survivors and supporters dedicated to the concerns and issues that are unique to young women and breast cancer. Through action, advocacy and awareness, the YSC seeks to educate the medical, research, and breast cancer communities to persuade them to address breast cancer in women 40 and under. The YSC also serves as a point of contact for young women living with breast cancer.

Here’s my take on it/The bottom line:

PinkBuildABearI was sent one of the Hopeful Wishes Teddy® II bears to review and give away – and have to admit that I would have loved to keep her. Like every Build-A-Bear friend, she’s a soft, cuddly bear that would make a perfect friend for any child or adult out there. In a soothing pink color, with the signature pink ribbon on her foot, this bear is looking for a new family to love and take care of her.  :)

Where can you find it?:

This beary special furry friend is available in Build-A-Bear Workshop stores and online at www.buildabear.com for $25.

Would you like to win one?:

As I mentioned, I have a very lonely Hopeful Wishes Teddy® II waiting here for a new home. If you think that you could take care of her and provide her with the love, affection and cuddles that she deserves, here are the rules:

  1. Enter by telling me who you would like to win this Hopeful Wishes Teddy® II for. Please don’t just say ‘choose me’, or your entry will be discarded.
  2. The contest will run until Friday, October 24th at 11:59 pm EST. The winner will be selected through random drawing, contacted by e-mail, listed on this post and also submitted to PRIZEY.Fetch. US entries only, please.
  3. Please leave a valid e-mail address or other way to contact you! If you don’t wish to leave your e-mail address, please make sure that you leave a unique name and check back with PRIZEYWinners to see if you won. If the winner hasn’t responded within 3 days, an alternate winner will be chosen by random drawing.
  4. If you’d like an extra entry or two, you can either subscribe to my RSS feed (click on the orange icon in the upper right sidebar), or mention this contest on your blog with a link back to this post – or both. Please leave an extra comment on this post for each of the extra entry options that you choose, letting me know – for a total of 3 comments if you do both extra entry options.

Good luck! :)

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED – the random number generator has chosen comment #55 as the winner:

I would love to win this little bear for my friend. She is currently battling breast cancer and when she tells me about her chemo days…it just makes me feel so awful that I can’t be there with her. I would send this bear to her so she could take it with her to chemo. Then it will sort of be like I am there with her. Thank you for the chance to win this. Let’s all fight for the cure!
